Ecofix Scotland provides servicing, fault diagnosis, repairs and suitable installation work for commercial ice machines within our current competence and service scope. We assess the whole machine rather than treating the refrigeration circuit in isolation, because ice production also depends on water supply, drainage, pumps, controls, sensors, cleanliness and operating conditions.

Common Commercial Ice Machine Faults

Typical reasons for attendance include:

no ice or reduced ice production;

slow or incomplete production cycles;

poorly formed or inconsistent ice;

water fill, pump or drainage problems;

water leakage;

refrigeration, fan or condenser airflow faults;

control, sensor or switch problems;

scale, contamination or cleanliness issues affecting operation;

unusual noise, vibration or intermittent operation.

The reported symptom helps guide the investigation, but diagnosis still requires appropriate inspection and testing of the machine and its operating conditions.

Ice Machine Fault Diagnosis & Repairs

Diagnosis can involve the refrigeration circuit, water system, pumps, fans, controls, sensors, evaporator operation, drainage and the machine’s cycle sequence as appropriate. The aim is to identify the underlying cause before recommending parts or corrective work.

Where a safe and practical repair can be completed during the included productive time, work may continue once the fault is established. Where parts, extended testing or a return visit are required, the findings and next action will be explained first.

Ice Machine Servicing

An ice-machine service is adapted to the manufacturer, machine design, usage and condition. Appropriate work can include:

general condition and operating checks;

condenser cleanliness and airflow;

water inlet, pumps and accessible water-path components;

controls, sensors and cycle operation;

evaporator and ice-production condition;

drainage and signs of leakage;

existing filtration where fitted and relevant;

appropriate cleaning and sanitising activity included within the agreed service;

identification of defects, deterioration or work requiring further repair/diagnosis.

Servicing does not constitute a separate food-safety certification and does not guarantee that future faults will not occur. Site hygiene procedures, water quality, usage and manufacturer requirements remain important to reliable operation.

How Often Should an Ice Machine Be Serviced?

Twice-yearly servicing is the normal starting point for commercial ice machines. The actual frequency should also reflect manufacturer guidance, usage, hygiene needs, water quality, scale formation, filtration arrangements and the condition of the machine.

Ice Machine Installation & Replacement

Ecofix Scotland can assess suitable replacement and installation work where the machine, site services and task fall within current competence. The normal model is supply-and-install; customer-supplied machines are considered only by prior agreement as separately estimated installation-only work.

Installation requires suitable water supply, drainage and electrical arrangements for the selected machine. Where building-side alterations or other trade work are required, these are identified separately from the agreed equipment installation.

Electrical Interface for New Ice Machine Installations

Ecofix Scotland may undertake electrical work associated with technical equipment where it falls within the engineer’s competence and authorised service scope. For new installations, the normal Ecofix Scotland boundary is from a suitable local electrical isolator to the equipment.

New electrical circuits, supply to the isolator and work requiring electrical installation certification are undertaken by an appropriately qualified electrician, either arranged by Ecofix Scotland where agreed or by the customer.

Standard additional engineering time is £75 per hour in 15-minute increments after the included hour. Out-of-hours additional engineering time is £95 per hour. Parts, filters where applicable, refrigerant and substantive repairs are additional. Installation/replacement work is estimated individually.

Current Scope Boundary

This page covers commercial ice machines within current Ecofix Scotland competence. Ice-cream makers and large ice-cream display cabinets are outside the current advertised Commercial Refrigeration scope.

Qualifications, Certification & Technical Scope

Ecofix Scotland’s Commercial Refrigeration work is supported by company F-Gas certification together with relevant individual F-Gas Category I and hydrocarbon refrigeration qualification evidence. Work is accepted only where the equipment, refrigerant, task, technical information, tools, competence and authorisation support it.

Service Area

Commercial Refrigeration is provided across Ecofix Scotland’s Zone 1 and Zone 2 service areas. Work outside Zones 1 and 2 may be accepted by prior agreement where commercially and operationally appropriate.

Do you repair the whole ice machine or only the refrigeration system?

We assess the whole suitable machine within competence, including relevant refrigeration, water, pumps, drainage, controls and sensors rather than limiting the service to the refrigerant circuit.

Does servicing include cleaning and sanitising?

Appropriate cleaning and sanitising activity can form part of the agreed service. The exact work depends on the machine and condition, and servicing is not presented as a separate food-safety certification.

Can Ecofix Scotland install a new ice machine?

Yes, for suitable machines and sites within current competence. Water, drainage and electrical requirements are assessed as part of the installation.

Do you service ice-cream makers?

No. Ice-cream makers and large ice-cream display cabinets are outside the current advertised Commercial Refrigeration scope.
