Ecofix Scotland provides trusted technical property services for homes, landlords and businesses.

Based in Carluke, we bring a range of specialist technical services together under one company and one set of working standards. Our aim is to provide technically sound work, clear explanations and honest advice – without replacing evidence with assumption.

Ecofix Scotland – Technical Property Services

How Ecofix Scotland Works

Technical work should be based on what the evidence supports, not on what is easiest to assume. The principles below apply across Ecofix Scotland’s services.

Evidence Before Assumption

A description of symptoms is useful, but it is not a diagnosis. Where diagnosis is required, the aim is to inspect, test, measure and gather enough evidence to support a reasoned technical conclusion.

Never replace certainty with assumption.

Repair the Cause, Not Just the Symptom

Where reasonably practicable, Ecofix Scotland aims to identify and address the underlying cause of a problem rather than simply masking the visible symptom. If the cause cannot yet be established, that uncertainty should be explained rather than presented as certainty.

Right First Time, Where Reasonably Achievable

The aim is to approach work with enough preparation, care, evidence and verification to avoid preventable repeat work. This is a professional objective, not a promise that every fault can always be diagnosed or fully resolved during a first visit.

Competence, Authorisation and Honest Boundaries

Ecofix Scotland accepts work only where the relevant qualifications, current competence, statutory registration or certification, appropriate equipment, reliable technical information and company authorisation support the work. Where assistance, referral or a different specialist is the correct option, that is the professional decision.

Verification and Clear Communication

Where work is completed, the relevant function should be checked and verified as far as reasonably practicable. Findings, limitations, further work and material changes in scope should be explained clearly so the customer can make an informed decision.

Our History

Ecofix Scotland’s roots go back to 2012, when Ian Patterson began trading as a sole trader under the name Western Refrigeration.

In 2016, the business was incorporated as Western Refrigeration (Scotland) Ltd. As the range of technical work developed beyond the original refrigeration focus, the company increasingly needed an identity that could support several specialist services without fragmenting them into separate businesses.

In 2024, the company became Ecofix Scotland Ltd. The name reflects the direction of the business today: one technical property services company bringing specialist services together under the Ecofix Scotland brand.

The company’s refrigeration background remains an important part of its technical foundation, while the wider Ecofix Scotland structure allows new and existing services to develop under one consistent identity and set of standards.

Technical Leadership & Experience

Ecofix Scotland was founded by Ian Patterson, who currently leads the company’s technical service delivery. Ian has more than 30 years of domestic and commercial technical experience.

The business is intentionally built around technical judgement, continual learning and clear limits of competence. As Ecofix Scotland develops, the same principle remains controlling: employment by the company does not automatically authorise anyone to undertake every service the company offers. Work should be allocated according to the qualifications, competence and authorisation required for the task.

Qualifications, Certification & Training

Formal qualifications, statutory registration, company certification and manufacturer training are important evidence of technical preparation, but they do not create unlimited authority to undertake every possible job.

Ecofix Scotland maintains controlled evidence relating to areas including F-Gas work, hydrocarbon refrigeration, heat pumps, unvented hot water, domestic gas and relevant manufacturer training. The detailed public record is kept on the company-wide Qualifications & Certifications page so that service pages do not need to repeat certificate details or unnecessary personal credential identifiers.

Service Area

Ecofix Scotland is based in Carluke and provides normal technical services across the company’s Zone 1 and Zone 2 service areas, covering Lanarkshire and selected surrounding Central Scotland postcodes. Suitable work outside Zones 1 and 2 may be considered by prior agreement.

Individual services may apply their own approved technical scope, pricing or response arrangements within the common geographic framework, and any service-specific or brand-specific exception remains controlling.
