How a Gas Services Visit Works
- Tell us the service required, postcode, boiler/appliance type, make/model where known and any reported problem.
- Ecofix confirms that the work is within current scope, the applicable standard price or estimate and the appointment window.
- For fault work, we inspect and test to establish what the evidence supports rather than treating reported symptoms as a diagnosis.
- We explain findings, safety issues, repair options and additional cost before material additional work proceeds, except where immediate action is required to make a situation safe.
- Parts that require ordering are normally paid for before ordering. Payment on completion remains the normal default unless authorised credit applies.
Gas Boiler Servicing
Routine boiler servicing is preventative maintenance for a boiler that is being booked for service rather than because of a known active fault. The exact checks depend on the appliance, manufacturer requirements and what can properly be assessed during the visit.
If you already know the boiler is malfunctioning — for example repeated lockout, loss of pressure, no heating or hot water — the correct booking is normally fault diagnosis rather than a routine service.
Boiler Fault Diagnosis & Repairs
Boiler and heating faults are approached through evidence-based inspection and testing. A telephone description of the symptoms helps us prepare, but it is not treated as a confirmed diagnosis.
Where the cause is established and suitable repair work is authorised, Ecofix can carry out repairs within current competence and registered scope. Parts and additional labour are explained before material extra work proceeds.
Boiler Fault Diagnosis & Repairs
Landlord Gas Safety Records
Ecofix Scotland provides Landlord Gas Safety checks and records for suitable residential properties. The safety check and a routine boiler service are separate service purposes, even when they are completed during the same planned visit.
A combined boiler service + Landlord Gas Safety Record package is available where both services are required.
Gas Safety Emergencies
Ecofix Scotland does not advertise a 24-hour emergency gas service. If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, do not wait for an Ecofix appointment or use the enquiry form as the emergency route.
For Natural Gas emergencies in Great Britain, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. For LPG, use the appropriate supplier emergency contact. If anyone is unwell or in immediate danger, seek emergency medical help as appropriate.
Gas Safe Registration & Technical Scope
Ecofix Scotland is Gas Safe registered for applicable domestic Natural Gas and LPG categories. Gas Safe registration number: 923523.
Commercial Gas work is not currently within Ecofix Scotland’s registered scope. The Gas Safe Register remains the authoritative live source for current registration status and work categories.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you install new boilers?
Not as part of the initial advertised Gas Services launch. The current public service is focused on boiler servicing, fault diagnosis and suitable repairs, and Landlord Gas Safety Records.
Do you carry out commercial gas work?
No. Ecofix Scotland’s current Gas Safe scope is domestic rather than Commercial Gas.
Do you work on LPG boilers?
Suitable domestic LPG boiler work can be considered where it falls within current Gas Safe registered categories, current competence and the Ecofix service scope. Tell us the fuel type when enquiring.
Do you charge VAT?
No VAT is added to the prices shown because Ecofix Scotland is not VAT registered.
Can I use the enquiry form for a suspected gas leak?
No. A suspected gas escape or carbon-monoxide emergency should use the appropriate emergency-safety route immediately rather than waiting for Ecofix.
