Ecofix Scotland Qualifications & Certifications
Technical qualifications, registrations and manufacturer training are important evidence of training and competence. Ecofix Scotland also recognises that certificates alone do not make every engineer competent or authorised to undertake every possible job.
We accept work only where the relevant qualifications, current competence, statutory registration or certification, appropriate tools and test equipment, reliable technical information, safe working capability, company service scope and individual engineer authorisation support the work.
Where work falls outside current competence or authorised scope, the correct professional decision is to obtain appropriate assistance or decline that part of the work rather than replace certainty with assumption.
♢
Technical Competence at a Glance
This page is Ecofix Scotland’s authoritative public qualifications, certification and technical-training resource. Individual service pages provide concise relevant trust information and link back here for the detailed evidence.
♢
Qualification, Competence & Authorisation
A qualification demonstrates that relevant training and assessment have been completed. It does not automatically mean that Ecofix Scotland or an individual engineer undertakes every type of work that could theoretically fall beneath that qualification title.
Before accepting work, Ecofix considers the equipment involved, the required work, refrigerant or fuel type, statutory requirements, technical complexity, reliable technical information, available test equipment, current competence and the current Ecofix service boundary.
Qualifications support professional judgement. They do not replace inspection, testing or evidence-based diagnosis. Ecofix works to the principles: “Never replace certainty with assumption” and “Repair the cause, not just the symptom.”
♢
Electrical Work Within Technical Installations
Commercial refrigeration, air-conditioning, heat-pump and other technical equipment commonly includes electrical controls, motors, sensors, compressors and associated wiring. Ecofix Scotland undertakes equipment-side electrical work where it falls within the engineer’s competence and the scope of the technical service being provided.
For new installations, the normal Ecofix boundary is from a suitable local electrical isolator to the technical equipment. New electrical circuits, supply to the isolator and electrical installation work requiring separate certification are undertaken by an appropriately qualified electrician, either arranged by Ecofix where agreed or appointed by the customer.
♢
Ecofix Scotland F-Gas Company Certification
Ecofix Scotland Ltd holds current company certification through the F-GAS Register Company Certification Scheme.
| Certification detail | Current public record |
| Company | Ecofix Scotland Ltd |
| Certification | Stationary Equipment Qualification — Company Certificate |
| Issue date | 30 June 2026 |
| Expiry date | 29 June 2029 |
| Applicable scope | Installation; repair, maintenance or servicing; and decommissioning of applicable stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat-pump equipment. |
Company certification is distinct from an individual engineer’s technical qualification. Both are relevant to regulated refrigerant work.
♢
Refrigeration
Ecofix Scotland’s Refrigeration work is supported by company F-Gas certification together with individual F-Gas Category I and hydrocarbon refrigeration qualification evidence. These credentials are relevant to both Commercial Refrigeration and appropriate Domestic Refrigeration work, subject to the actual equipment, refrigerant, required work and current service scope.
City & Guilds F-Gas & ODS — Category I
City & Guilds Level 2 Award in F Gas and ODS Regulations — Category I
Awarded: 29 March 2011
The Category I qualification is relevant to appropriate leak checking, refrigerant recovery, installation, servicing and maintenance of applicable refrigeration, air-conditioning and related equipment.
Hydrocarbon Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Qualification
City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Hydrocarbon Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump System Installation, Servicing and Maintenance
Awarded: 21 March 2013
This qualification is particularly relevant to suitable systems using hydrocarbon refrigerants such as R290 and R600a. The broad qualification title does not override Ecofix Scotland’s actual service boundaries or establish unrestricted capability in every system type named within the award.
Where this Refrigeration evidence applies
Commercial Refrigeration — relevant to suitable commercial refrigeration repairs, servicing, planned maintenance and installation work within the current Ecofix Commercial Refrigeration scope.
View Commercial Refrigeration →
Domestic Refrigeration — the same shared F-Gas and hydrocarbon evidence is relevant to appropriate domestic fridge and freezer work carried out through Ecofix Scotland’s Domestic Appliances service, including suitable R290/R600a and applicable controlled-refrigerant equipment.
Qualification evidence does not override the individual service-page scope, exclusions or assessment requirements.
♢
Air Conditioning
The same company F-Gas certification, individual Category I F-Gas qualification and hydrocarbon qualification evidence is relevant to appropriate Ecofix Scotland Air Conditioning work within the approved service scope.
These credentials support refrigerant-side technical competence, while actual work remains subject to the equipment involved, refrigerant, technical information, test capability, current competence and authorisation.
♢
Heat Pump Qualifications & Manufacturer Training
Heat pumps combine refrigeration, electrical, hydraulic, control and heating-system technologies. Ecofix Scotland’s Heat Pump work is supported by relevant BPEC qualifications, applicable refrigerant qualifications and manufacturer training within the current service scope.
BPEC Qualifications
| Qualification | Awarded | Current expiry / status |
| BPEC DASHP — Domestic Air Source Heat Pump | 17 February 2023 | 25 January 2028 |
| BPEC UHW10 — Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems (Unvented) | 16 February 2023 | 15 January 2028 |
| BPEC WB2014 — The Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014 | 15 February 2023 | No expiry stated in the controlled source |
The Domestic Air Source Heat Pump qualification supports work on suitable domestic air-source heat-pump systems within current competence and authorised scope. The Unvented Hot Water and Scottish Water Byelaws qualifications are relevant where associated hot-water storage and water fittings fall within the work being undertaken.
Heat Pump Manufacturer Training
Ecofix has completed manufacturer training relating to a range of air-source heat-pump equipment. Course titles are reproduced from the supporting training record.
| Manufacturer | Training | Date |
| Mitsubishi Electric | Ecodan installation & Commissioning | 11 March 2024 |
| Worcester Bosch | Compress 2000, Full Monobloc Air to Water Heat Pump | 19 March 2024 |
| Mitsubishi Electric | Ecodan Service and Fault Finding | 10 April 2024 |
| Worcester Bosch | Compress 5800i, Air to Water Heat Pump | 23 April 2024 |
| Panasonic | Aquarea Air to Water Heat Pump | 23 April 2024 |
| Vaillant | aroTHERM Plus Maintenance | 23 May 2024 |
| Vaillant | aroTHERM Plus Install commission set up | 28 May 2024 |
| NIBE | Ground and Air Source Service and Maintenance | 30 May 2024 |
| Grant | Aerona³ Air Source Heat Pump Advanced Installer | 10 October 2024 |
| Grant | Aerona 290 Air Source Heat Pump Installer Course | 24 October 2024 |
Completion of a course that includes ground-source equipment does not, by itself, expand Ecofix Scotland’s advertised service scope. The current service boundary remains controlling.

Gas Services
Ecofix Scotland undertakes domestic gas work only within the engineer’s current Gas Safe registered work categories. The official Gas Safe competency record confirms Domestic gas registration and not Commercial gas registration.
Gas Safe registration number: 923523
The Gas Safe Register is the authoritative live source for current registration status and work categories.

Manufacturer Training — What It Means
Manufacturer training gives an engineer structured exposure to particular equipment, controls, installation principles, commissioning procedures, service methods and fault-finding information. It is useful technical evidence, but it is not the same as a commercial relationship with the manufacturer.
Unless separately evidenced, completion of manufacturer training does not automatically mean that Ecofix Scotland:
Where manufacturer authorisation or accreditation is not formally held, Ecofix will not imply that it is. Likewise, the absence of a manufacturer from the training tables does not automatically mean that suitable equipment from that manufacturer cannot be considered. Acceptance still depends on the equipment, service required, reliable technical information, parts support, safe access, current competence and authorisation.
♢
Keeping Qualifications & Certifications Current
Qualifications, registrations, certification status and technical service boundaries can change. Ecofix Scotland therefore maintains internal control of relevant qualification records, certification status, expiry and renewal dates, competence status and engineer authorisation.
The website should be reviewed when a relevant qualification is obtained or renewed, additional manufacturer training is completed, a time-limited qualification approaches expiry, Gas Safe work categories change, company F-Gas certification changes or a service boundary changes materially.
Certificate Evidence & Privacy
Ecofix retains supporting qualification and certification evidence. The purpose of this webpage is to demonstrate genuine technical credibility without unnecessarily placing sensitive or reusable credential information into the public domain.
For most qualifications, the public page gives the qualification or training title, awarding or training organisation, useful award/completion dates, relevant expiry dates and what the evidence supports. Full unrestricted certificate images are not normally published because certificates can contain candidate numbers, certificate identifiers, signatures, security information, QR or validation information and other personal details that customers do not need.
Need to Verify a Qualification or Registration?
Customers, commercial clients or other relevant parties who reasonably need to verify Ecofix qualification or certification information can contact Ecofix Scotland. Where appropriate, verification can be provided through an official public register, award or certification details, controlled certificate evidence or the relevant awarding/certifying body.
Gas Safe registration status and registered work categories should be checked through the official Gas Safe Register. Ecofix does not need to distribute unrestricted copies of personal certificates simply because verification has been requested.
