Where Home Air Conditioning Can Help

Bedrooms

Independent room-temperature control can be useful during warm periods and, with suitable equipment, for heating.

Living Rooms

A properly selected system can provide controlled heating and cooling for frequently occupied spaces.

Home Offices

Air conditioning can help maintain a more consistent working environment.

Loft Rooms

Upper-floor and converted loft spaces may experience different temperature conditions from the rest of the home.

Extensions

Glazing, orientation and room use should be considered when selecting equipment.

Garden Offices

Suitable detached workspaces may benefit from an AC system capable of both heating and cooling, subject to the building and electrical arrangements.

One Room or Several?

Single-Split

One indoor unit connected to one associated outdoor unit.

Multi-Split

Several compatible indoor units connected to one outdoor unit.

The choice should be based on:

number of rooms;
installation routes;
equipment requirements;
practical outdoor-unit positioning;
budget;
serviceability.

Heating & Cooling

Many suitable split systems can provide both heating and cooling.

Ecofix should confirm the capability of the proposed equipment rather than imply every system performs identically.

Installation Considerations

Home installations need to consider:

indoor-unit position;
outdoor-unit location;
pipe route;
condensate drainage;
electrical provision;
noise;
clearances;
access for future servicing.

The visually preferred position is not always the technically strongest position.

Electrical Work

Where a suitable electrical provision already exists, Ecofix may be able to connect the AC equipment within its current electrical scope.

Where a new circuit is required, an electrician must be involved.

The electrician may be:

arranged by Ecofix and included within the installation estimate; or
arranged directly by the customer.

Condensate

Ecofix will assess how condensate can be discharged appropriately.

Standard AC installation may include routing to:

a suitable existing drain; or
another agreed suitable discharge point.

Where appropriate, pipework may terminate at or near ground level.

Construction of new drains, soakaways or substantial groundworks is not automatically included.

Existing Residential Air Conditioning

Ecofix can also provide:

fault diagnosis;
repairs;
servicing;

for suitable existing residential systems.

Standard diagnostic visit: £125 within core service area. Terms and Conditions apply.

Servicing: See the full Servicing & Maintenance pricing structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Air Conditioning be installed in a bedroom?

Yes, where an appropriate system and installation route can be provided.

Can it heat as well as cool?

Many modern split systems can provide both heating and cooling.

Is residential AC noisy?

Noise depends on the equipment, operating condition and installation. Indoor and outdoor positioning should be considered during the assessment.

Can one outdoor unit serve several rooms?

Yes, with a suitable multi-split system.

Will I need an electrician?

Possibly. A new circuit or other electrical work outside Ecofix’s current scope requires an electrician.

Where does the condensate go?

Ecofix assesses the available drainage route and uses an appropriate existing or agreed suitable discharge point where practical.

Does Ecofix build drains or soakaways?

Not as part of the standard AC installation. Such work is normally customer-arranged or separately estimated where appropriate.

How much is routine servicing?

A standard single-split service is £120 for one indoor unit and associated outdoor unit under normal access conditions. Additional systems are priced separately. Terms and Conditions apply.
