Current installation scope:
Installation pricing: Individually estimated.
Electrical work: A separate electrician is required where a new circuit or other work outside Ecofix’s current electrical scope is necessary.
Condensate: Standard AC work does not automatically include new drains, soakaways or groundworks.
♢
Air Conditioning Designed Around the Property
A suitable air-conditioning installation involves more than choosing an indoor unit based on appearance or approximate floor area.
Ecofix considers:
This allows the proposed system and installation scope to be estimated on the actual job rather than an assumed standard layout.
♢
Systems Ecofix Scotland Installs:
Wall-Mounted Split Systems
A single indoor unit connected to one associated outdoor unit.
This is commonly suitable where one main room or area requires individual heating and cooling.
Multi-Split Systems
Several compatible indoor units connected to one outdoor unit.
This can be useful where multiple rooms need separate temperature control while limiting the number of outdoor units.
Ceiling Cassette Systems
Suitable cassette installations can be considered where:
♢
New Installation or Replacement
Ecofix can assess:
Existing pipework, drainage or electrical provision should not automatically be assumed suitable for a replacement system.
Where reuse is technically appropriate, the estimate should state what is being retained.
♢
Indoor & Outdoor Unit Positioning
Proposed positions should consider:
The preferred customer position should be considered, but technical suitability takes precedence.
♢
Electrical Requirements
Ecofix Scotland can connect AC equipment to a suitable local isolator within its current permitted electrical scope.
Ecofix Scotland cannot currently install a new electrical circuit.
Where additional electrical work is required, the installation will normally follow one of two routes.
Ecofix Scotland-Arranged Electrician
Ecofix Scotland coordinates an electrician and includes the agreed electrical enabling work within the overall installation estimate.
Customer-Arranged Electrician
The customer arranges a suitable electrician to provide the required electrical supply and local isolation before the agreed installation stage.
Where Ecofix Scotland and an electrician agree that Ecofix Scotland may undertake limited preparatory physical work, the exact division of responsibility must be agreed beforehand.
Ecofix Scotland should never assume an electrician will later certify work they have not agreed to accept.
♢
Condensate Drainage
Air-conditioning operation produces condensate water that must be discharged appropriately.
Where practical, Ecofix will route condensate to:
Where technically and practically suitable, standard condensate pipework may be routed down to an agreed point at or near ground level.
The standard AC installation does not automatically include:
Where additional drainage infrastructure is required, it will normally be:
Where gravity drainage is impractical, a condensate pump may be required.
Outdoor-unit drainage is dealt with according to the requirements of the selected equipment and site conditions rather than applying one universal arrange

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Air Conditioning installation cost?
Each installation is individually estimated because system size, number of units, pipework, electrical work, drainage and access vary between properties.
♢
Can Air Conditioning heat as well as cool?
Many modern split systems provide both heating and cooling. The selected system specification will confirm its capabilities.
♢
Can one outdoor unit serve several rooms?
Yes. A suitable multi-split system can serve several compatible indoor units.
♢
Will I need an electrician?
Possibly. If a new circuit or other work outside Ecofix’s current electrical scope is required, an electrician must be involved.
♢
Can Ecofix include the electrician in the estimate?
Yes, where Ecofix is arranging the electrician and the electrical scope can be established before the estimate is issued.
Alternatively, the customer may arrange their own electrician.
♢
Where does the condensate water go?
Ecofix assesses the available drainage route. Condensate may be connected to a suitable existing drain or another agreed suitable discharge point.
♢
Does Ecofix build soakaways?
Not as part of the standard AC installation. New drains, soakaways and significant groundworks are normally customer-arranged or separately estimated where appropriate.
♢
Can Ecofix replace an existing system?
Yes, where the work falls within the current Air Conditioning scope.
